Thomas Vandemark, progenitor of this family in the United States, was from the Netherlands, where he was born ca. 1643. He settled in Kingston, New York about 1665, and moved to Marbletown soon thereafter. He died in 1724. He married Jacomyntje (Jacoba) Jacobs in 1674. Description
The earliest ancestor ascertained from the parish register of Llandbrynmair, Montgomeryshire (now Powys), North Wales was, John Tibbott, who married Sibyl and was buried Jan. 7, 1707. They had twin boys, Benjamin (bapt. 1685) and Thomas (1685-1723) and a daughter baptized in 1686. Descendants in this booklet are through Thomas Tibbott.

Claes Jansen (Kuyper) van Purmarent emigrated about 1655 and settled in 1664 at Ahasymus, part of Jersey City, Bergen County, New Jersey. He was a cooper and wheelwright.
